On February 3, Cedric Cañas Maillard, a former high-level advisor to the CEO of a global bank, was charged with insider trading.  The defendant allegedly obtained confidential information about the acquisition of Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. by BHP Billiton for $45 million.  According to the government, the defendant traded on this nonpublic information and earned a profit of approximately $917,000.  United States v.
