On August 17, 2018, Evan Greebel, a former partner at the law firm Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment and ordered to pay over $10 million in restitution for his role in a securities fraud involving Retrophin, a biopharmaceutical company.    In December 2017, a jury convicted Greebel of conspiring with Retrophin CEO Martin Shkreli and others to manipulate Retrophin’s stock price and steal cash and stock from the company.  The government also presented evidence that Greebel prepared illegitimate settlement agreements that allowed him and others to carry out their illegal activities.
